Be fair and ethical in your business negotiations. That doesn't mean that you have to do the right thing just for the sake of it but understand that how you behave in these negotiations will most likely have a lasting influence on the relationship. Adding an ethical component to your business negotiation skills will enhance your reputation as someone who behaves fairly.

Fully understand what you bring to the table and what's its value is. This can be a product, service or perhaps knowledge. If you don't understand what you're worth, the opposition will have a stronger negotiating position and you could potentially sell yourself short.

Step 3
Recognize that you won't always agree on each point or with everyone involved in the negotiations. That's acceptable, or at least it should be. You'll need to know what points or issues you can cede to the other side. An important part of honing your negotiation skills is to ensure that everyone involved comes away with what they consider a "win."
