Things You'll Need:
- Fragrant Body Wash or Soap
- Book of Short Stories
- Anthology of Poems
-
Step 1
Indulge yourself in an aromatherapy shower to get your day moving. Try an invigorating body wash or soap to awaken your senses to jump start your day.
-
Step 2
Look around you and find something funny and ‘laugh out loud’. When you stop at your local coffee shop on your way to work or in the line when you are dropping off your child at daycare, you will see something out of the ordinary and funny. Enjoy the moment and laugh. Laughter produces endorphins which help reduce stress.
-
Step 3
Learn some deep breathing exercises. Do one or two at various times of the day. Most people are shallow breathers. Shallow breathers can suffer from tension, exhaustion and vocal strain, and it can interfere with athletic activity and bring on aches and feeling ill. Deep breathing can reduce tension and stress while it improves energy as it creates the ability to relax and unwind
-
Step 4
Keep a daily journal of the things in your life you are grateful for. If you need to be reminded of how lucky you are – just look at your journal.
-
Step 5
Go to the library and take out a book of short stories or an anthology of poems. Take an afternoon coffee break and sit down with your book and read a short story or several poems. Remember when growing up it was fun to sit on the sofa and read on a ‘rainy day’. Bring that memory back to life.

on 11/3/2009 Thanks for these good ideas to make Tuesdays (and Wednesdays, and Thursdays...) terrific. Laughter is great: try a class in Laughing Yoga (no kidding). Also, smile routinely. Your face will be more relaxed, blood flow will improve, you will find yourself feeling better, others will--usually--return the smile, and some will wonder what you're smiling about. 5*
