Lower Your Phone & Insurance Bills By Hundreds

With the current economy, we all want to save our money every way we can. Why pay money that you can easily keep in your wallet, and yet still get good service? Here you'll find some easy-to -do tips to save you hundreds on your phone and car insurance bills.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

I recently discovered with my car insurance, that because I drive less than a certain amount of miles a year, I can get a nice discount. The amount of miles may vary between insurance companies, so just make a quick call or click to yours. You may have to send or fax in two service slips showing miles to validate it, but voila-money taken off for very little effort!

  2. Step 2

My favorite discount on my policy is 10% off for paying for the 6-month period. Many insurance companies charge a fee to bill you each month. It's for the office, administrative, and paper costs. So if they don't have to worry about that every month, many of them are willing to give you a discount. With my policy it worked out to 10% off. Check into it on your policy and if you can, go for it. You'll be glad you did.

  3. Step 3

Check to make sure that you're getting all of the discounts on your car insurance that you deserve- multiple policy discount, homeowner discount, safe driver, anti-theft device, etc.,.

  4. Step 4

On your phone bills, if you are paying a hefty price on for a business 800 number like we were, check online for other providers in your area. Just a little digging uncovered that we could be paying half price for the same thing! They may have a fee to transfer over your number to the new company, but with those kind of savings it will be well worth it.

  5. Step 5

For home phone, savings take a look at Vonage or MagicJack. (Vonage.com & MagicJack.com) If you don't mind changing your number, you can get phone service for around $20 a year with MagicJack. They won a product of the year award, have a 30 free trial and have a lot additional features for free. They are hoping to be able to transfer numbers over by the end of 2009. To save money on your home phone bills and keep your current number, Vonage is a good way to go. They have unlimited calling in the U.S. and to over 60 countries for $24.99 per month!

Tips & Warnings
  • Just a little bit of effort with these simple tips will save you hundreds(if not more)on your insurance and phone bills every year.
  • With Vonage, unlimited calls can be to any phone, including cell phones, in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. For the other countries, calls to cell phones may be included, depending on the destination. Some restrictions will apply with both phone companies.
