Step 1
The first step to finding the ugly duckling on Facebook is to log in to your Facebook account. You do not need to be into Farmville right away.
- If you do not have friends that play Farmville you won't be able to find an ugly duckling, so you should go add Farmville friends & neighbors right away! -
Step 2
If you do have friends & neighbors in Farmville then just skim through your news feed and look for a picture similar to the one on the left here.

Step 3
If you see one of those pictures on your news feed that means one of your friends came across an ugly duckling while they were playing Farmville and put it up for adoption.

Step 4
To adopt their ugly duckling just click on the link underneath the Farmville ugly duckling post that says "Adopt the ugly duckling". This will take you directly into Farmville.

Step 5
If the ugly duckling is still available you will get a pop up that looks like the one to the left.

Step 6
You will then find the ugly duckling in your gift box. You can place the Farmville ugly duckling anywhere on your farm!

Step 7
Sometimes the ducklings have already been adopted by enough people. In this case you will get a pop up that looks like the one the left.

Step 8
One general rule of thumb in Farmville on Facebook is if you are able to adopt an animal, leave it in your gift box for a few hours. This is because if you do not place it on your farm right away, more people will be able to adopt the animal. This gives more people the opportunity to get an animal as well.

Step 9
In case you didn't already know, the ugly duckling will transform in a few days into a beautiful swan! Then you can harvest swan feathers.
