How to Grow a Resurrection Plant

The resurrection plant, or Selaginella lepidophylla, is also known as the rose of Jericho. It is a type of lycopod, plants that appeared about 400 million years ago. The resurrection plant is small and mostly found in desert regions. This plant has a unique capability to remain dormant and then, when watered, come alive. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Water
  • Potting soil

Instructions

      Place the resurrection plant in a shallow dish.

      Pour water over the plant until the dish is filled with water. As long as the plant has water, it will grow.

      Alternatively, fill a pot with potting soil and place the resurrection plant on top of the soil.

      Pour additional water over the potted plant until soil is moist.

      Keep the plant watered, and it will continue to thrive.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you forget to water your plant and it becomes brown and shrivels into a ball, just water it, and the plant will spring back to life.
