How to Add Cushions to a Couch
Couches are the focal point of any room. They're strategically placed to maximize room space and showcase your fine taste. Besides serving as vessels for additional design, couches are structured to endure usage. However, after many years of use the cushions lose their plumpness, and it's time to replace them. The process of revitalizing the look of your couch is as simple as stuffing and repositioning them. Varying degrees of technique can add color, depth, and comfort to your couch, making it feel like you bought a new one in essence. Does this Spark an idea?

Measure the width and height of cushion placement. Begin by measuring the inside of the couch. Take the tape measure and place it vertically, noting the dimensions. Now take the tape measure and measure up to the bottom of the back pillow. This is a good indication of where the pillow's height will stop. Taking these measurements allows for you to have the correct estimates for your cushion seating.

Stack the foam pad on top of three to four layers of poly-fil. Poly-fil acts as another pad and a weight for your cushion, and it also helps protect the springs in the couch. Take the stack and place it inside of the cushion coverings that came with your couch, or your customized coverings. If you have customized coverings insert the foam pad first. Then insert a smooth layer of Poly-fil inside. The covering should fit firmly around the foam. If your covering comes with zippers, be sure not to snag any of the filling in the zipper.

Stick the newly covered cushions into the couch. This can be done a number of ways. If you have a single long cushion and a few smaller squared cushions, you can apply the Pyramid Effect. Sit the long cushion on the bottom of the couch opening. Apply layers on top of the cushion, taking additional cushions and placing them side by side, until filling up the gap between the back pillow and cushion's top. The additional cushions can vary in length to give a stronger effect. For best results, apply this technique with three seaters.
The Oreo uses three single long cushions. However, the middle cushion is larger than the cushions that surround it. The two outer cushions are the same size. Sit one of the thinner long cushions on the bottom of the couch opening. Place the thick cushion on top and finish it off with the other thin cushion topping it. Add throw pillows to accent the colors of the varying cushion layers. For best results apply this technique with love seats.
