Instructions

    • 1

Choose a thread color that nearly matches the color of your decorative fringe. The closer the match, the better. You will be sewing it onto the drapery panel and you want to see the fringe and not the stitches.

    • 2

Wind your bobbin with your thread and then thread your machine according to the manufacturer's directions. You could attach the fringe by hand using a whip-stitch, but a machine makes the process much faster.

    • 3

Practice sewing a few straight stitches on your scrap material to ensure that the sewing machine is properly threaded.

    • 4

Pin the length of your fringe to the hem of your drapery panels. You can use the seam as a guide to ensure that the fringe is straight.

    • 5

Position the end of your fringe and drapery panel under the foot of your sewing machine. The top should be positioned so that the sewing machine needle hits the middle of the decorative top on your fringe.

    • 6

Sew from one end of the fringe to the other, removing the pins as you work. You can sew another row 1/8 inch from the first row of stitches if you want to reinforce your work or create a finished look. Once the sewing is done, your customized drapery panels with fringe are ready to be hung and enjoyed.
