How to Restore Contacts From an iPod

The most recent Apple iPod models are capable of storing contact information from your PC or Mac computer. If you accidentally delete your address book from your computer's hard drive, you can restore the data from your iPod and recover all the lost contacts. The contacts will be restored to Microsoft Outlook on PC systems and the Apple Address Book application on Macs.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PC or Mac computer
  • iPod Touch, Classic or Nano
  • iTunes 8 or later
  • iPod USB cable
  1. Step 1

    Launch the iTunes application on your PC or Mac computer. Connect your iPod to your computer using the iPod USB cable.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the name of your iPod from the "Devices" list on the left side of the iTunes window. Go to the "Contacts" or "Info" tab at the top of the window.

  3. Step 3

    Check the box next to "Sync Contacts." Click "Apply" button in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.

  4. Step 4

    Choose to overwrite your computer data when prompted to select a syncing option. The iPod will now be synced with your computer and the contact information on your computer will be replaced with the data from your iPod.
