How to Straighten a Curly Perm

When most people think of perm solution as a something used with perming rods to create curly hair. What many people don't realize, however, is that the solution can be used to create the opposite effect as well. By breaking down the bonds in hair, and reforming them after the hair has been straightened, you can turn your curly hairdo into a straight look with the perming solution and a comb.

Things You'll Need

• Latex gloves
• Perming solution
• Comb
• Neutralizing shampoo

Instructions

1. Wear the latex gloves when handling the solution.

2. Apply the perming solution to a section of curly hair, working from the root to the tips.

3. Comb the hair from the root to the tip in long strokes until it is straight.

4. Continue working in small. 2- to 3-inch wide sections until the entire head has been combed straight.

5. Lather the hair with a neutralizing shampoo.

6. Rinse the neutralizing shampoo out.
