How to Control Anxiety During a C-Section
Giving birth to a child gives your mind lots of reasons to wander, worry and become overly anxious. While the experience is different for everyone, there's a group of women who have a little extra something to worry about: a C-section birth. Fortunately, if you mentally prepare yourself for the surgery then the process becomes less daunting and as a result you can control your anxiety throughout the actual C-section.

1
Research the Cesarean-section surgery by reading legitimate material online, reading books at the library or by talking to your doctor. If you understand the process more wholly, there will be fewer surprises once you're actually in the operating room.
-
2
Talk about your fears with your friends, partner or doctor. By talking your fears out, you garner a sort of power or control over them. And it's also possible that some of your fears may be unwarranted. By talking them out, you can squelch some of them immediately.

3
Understand that there is no such thing as a perfect delivery, even via a scheduled C-section birth. When you expect everything to go perfectly and then it doesn't, anxiety and tension begin to take over. If you expect a few kinks along the way then you'll be much less likely to get anxious when something doesn't go according to plan.

4
Ask questions throughout the process. Sometimes the biggest part of fear or anxiety is not knowing what's going on. Either ask your doctor to explain everything she is doing throughout the process or ask questions as you go along. Knowing what each tool or piece of equipment is used for will ease your mind.

5
Make sure that one or two people you care about and trust are with you for the C-section. Having those people at your side will help calm your fears and make your delivery a more meaningful one, as well.
-
6
Maintain a positive mood during the operation. Trust that your doctors are trained professionals. They have gone to school for many years, interned for many more years and are competent.
