How to Sell Coins on eBay
-
1
Log in to your Ebay account and click on the "Sell" tab from the bar at the top right of your Ebay window. Click the blue "Start selling" button and continue.
-
2
Select your category. To do this, press "Browse categories" and select "Coins & Paper Money" from the list. Now select the proper sub-category, depending on your coin type. As an example, you would select the "Coins: Canada" sub-category if your coin is from Canada. After selecting your category, press continue.

3
Photograph or scan your coins. Images are a must for successful coin listings on Ebay. You may want to note that scanners will tend to produce a washed out version of your coin. If a camera is available, you may want to make use of it as it will give a far more accurate representation of what the coin looks like in person. Upload your images to your computer and then to your Ebay listing. Ebay's item creation page will provide simple instructions for doing so.

4
Enter your coin's information in the fields provided. If you are unsure of any information, seek out a professional numismatist or look up your coin on the web. It is very important in determining the value of your coin to determine its grade. "Grade" is a ranking of a coin's quality and condition. Because of the specific guidelines and terminology used in grading coins, it is recommended that you purchase or borrow a Photograde book. This book contains an easy to understand guide on how to grade coins.

5
Research the value of your coin (after finding out its approximate grade). To do this you may conduct a completed listings search. Open an Ebay window and enter your coin keywords into the search box. Keywords should include the coin type, denomination, and approximate grade. Select "Completed listings" from the "Search options" panel on the left side. Once done, continue to step six.
-
6
Press "Continue" and then "List my item" on the following page after having verified all your information. Your coin is now listed for sale on Ebay.

Tips & Warnings
When photographing coins, use your camera's macro setting. This results in sharper, more focused images. Read your camera's manual for instructions on enabling this setting. You will also need a steady hand or blurry images will result. If necessary you may want to use a tripod to hold your camera steady. Finally, have a solid color background behind your coin. White or black backgrounds work best.
When shipping your coins, use padded envelopes and bubble wrap to prevent possible damage. It is also recommended to use shipping insurance in case of damage, loss or theft of your package.
