How to Remove a Kitchen Faucet Filter

Removing an old filter from your water filtration system is common practice, to keep your unit running properly and removing contaminants from drinking water.       Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the housing screws of the filter unit. Sometimes, the unit will twist or snap off.

      Remove the old filter. It will slip easily out of the filter housing, all you have to do is pull up and out.

      Replace a new filter back into the unit by sliding in place. Close the unit and tighten the screws of the filter housing. Twist or snap together, if necessary. The filter you use is brand and model specific. If you have a Pur filter you will use the correct filter for your unit model. Even brands have different filters for their various models. Make sure you have the correct replacement part by referring to your manual or calling the manufacture.

      Flush the system for at least five minutes to activate the new filter and clear out the old carbon particles.
