Instructions

    • 1

Check to make sure there are not any eggs or babies in the nest. Native birds are protected by federal law; nests with eggs or babies cannot be disturbed.

    • 2

Put on your gloves. This is just in case there are lice or other parasites in the nest; you don't want these on your hands.

    • 3

Carefully remove the nest. You can now easily pick up the nest and discard it.

Tips & Warnings

  • If there are eggs or babies in the nest then contact your local vector control, wildlife center, or fish and game department for permission to remove the nest.

  • If the vent holes are small, a toothbrush works well at getting out hard to reach nest pieces.

  • Depending on the species, removal of a nest with eggs or babies may be punishable by federal law.
