How to Install a Backsplash on a Granite Counter

Things You'll Need
- backsplash
- Silicone adhesive
- Clear Silicone Caulk
- Caulk Gun
- 1/16 inch spacers
- gloves
- putty knives
- second person
- 4 foot straight edge
- razor knife

Begin by checking the wall for straightness. This is necessary to determine any adjustments that need to be made to the wall.

Place 1/16 inch spacers on counter along wall for back splash to sit on. This will help prevent the splash and counter from scratching. Make sure spacers are placed in a way that they can be removed with the back splash in place.

Dry fit the back splash. Check for and make anymore adjustments to wall that need to be made.

Lay the backsplash polished side down on paper towels. Paper towels help to prevent damage.

Apply ample amount of silicone adhesive to back of splash. Make sure to leave adhesive at least 1/4 inch from top edge.

Place the backsplash into position on the spacers and apply pressure. Remove spacers from under splash. The splash should slide down the wall to meet the counter. Apply pressure to splash again.

Repeat all steps with the remaining portions of splash. Be sure to apply adhesive to any seams.

Seal splash all the way around. Make sure to seal with clear silicone caulk both top and bottom and corners.

Clean any silicone from counter and splash. Allow 24 hours to dry.

Be sure to clean any silicone adhesive or caulk from unwanted areas before it drys.
Putty knifes can be used to lower the back splash into place on spacers.
Make sure to install back splashes into order according to corner seams.
Be careful not to break granite.
