Instructions

  1. Making Candy Corn Seed Packets

    • 1

Cut the paper into a rectangle that is 6 inches by 3 inches. Lay the rectangle in front of you so that the longer edge is facing you.

    • 2

Measure 1 cm. from the bottom left edge and draw a vertical line from the top to the bottom of the paper. Go back to the bottom left hand corner of the rectangle. Start at the vertical line, and measure 1 cm. up from the bottom of the rectangle. Draw a horizontal line from the left to the right edge of the paper. On the top of the rectangle, start at the mark you made, and measure in 2 cm. from the edge of the paper. Draw another horizontal line from the left side of the rectangle to the right.

    • 3

Use the scissors to cut a square out of the bottom left corner of the paper of the paper that is 1 cm. by 1 cm. based on the lines you made. Then cut a rectangle out of the top of the paper that is 1 cm. wide and 2 cm. deep based on the lines you made.

    • 4

Using the top vertical line, measure 3 inches over from the innermost cut you made at the top of the rectangle. Draw another vertical line. Starting at the right edge, cut along the top line to where the lines intersect, then cut up the vertical line to the top edge of the paper. You should now have a little flap at the top and bottom of the rectangle.

    • 5

Fold the flap on the left inward along the vertical line you drew in Step 1 and make a crease. Fold the bottom flap upward following the horizontal line you made in Step 2 and make another crease. Finally, fold the larger tab on the right in to the left, using the vertical line you made in Step 4 as a guide.

    • 6

Lift the flap on the right and squeeze a thin line of glue along the left and bottom tabs, then gently place the right flap back down, forming a pocket. Gently run your fingers along the bottom and left edge to help it stick, then allow the glue to dry completely for about 20 minutes.

    • 7

Flip the packet over and decorate the front. Use the sharp knife to cut two or three candy corn in half lengthwise, and glue the flat part of the candy to the front of the packet. Use markers or colored pencils to write "Happy Halloween," "Harvest Party" or simply, "Candy Corn," above the candy corn that you have glued onto the envelope.

    • 8

Fill the seed packet with candy corn, then fold the top flap down, crease the edge and tuck it into the top of the packet.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you would prefer to use a pattern to make the seed packet, there are templates available online at sites such as OverTheGardenGate.net.

  • Instead of gluing candy corn on the front of the packet, draw your own candy corn, print a picture online or use candy corn stickers to decorate your packet.

  • Make sure the glue has dried completely before you fill the packet with candy corn. If not, glue may get on the candy, or the extra volume may cause the packet to pull apart.
