Mosquitoes, a common household pest, are known carriers of deadly diseases to humans such as malaria, dengue fever, and West Nile virus. This is why getting rid of them is very important. Several mosquito pesticides and repellent products are available in the market to kill or ward off this insect. However, there is a simple technique I learned to attract and kill mosquitoes without resorting to harmful chemicals. Read on.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper/Plastic plate
  • Cooking/baby oil
  1. Step 1

Schedule a time to catch mosquitoes close to evening. Most mosquitoes are active during twilight hours and at night.

  2. Step 2

Rub the oil generously on the surface of the plate. You are going to use the oiled plate to catch mosquitoes.

  3. Step 3

Wear clothes that cover most of your skin. This acts as a protection and lessens the chances of mosquito bites.

  4. Step 4

When you are ready, hold the oiled plate on your hand, and make a high frequency sound. Mimic the sound of mosquitoes buzzing. This attracts the blood-sucking female mosquitoes in your direction.

  5. Step 5

Move the plate in a sweeping motion towards the flying mosquitoes. The oil on the plate traps the insects, killing them eventually. Repeat until you killed all the mosquitoes that comes your way.

  6. Step 6

Replace the oiled plate when necessary.
