How to Attract Clients for Your Residential and Office Cleaning Business
Part of the challenge of running a business is bringing in new clients. When you are running your own cleaning business, you are the driving force behind marketing and promotions. By going after new business with an organized, thoughtful plan, you can create an effective system for bringing in clients. With a successful marketing plan, you can reach out to both individual homeowners and business owners and build a strong, loyal customer base.

1
Identify locations that you can get to easily and which will offer a wide range of potential customers. Look for residential neighborhoods where homeowners have high enough incomes to afford a cleaning service. Choose a business district with a high density of individual companies. Focus your marketing efforts on these areas.
-
2
Visit businesses in person. Stop in with a pile of brochures and price sheets and ask to speak to the person in charge of hiring service providers. Briefly introduce yourself, mention that you have a new cleaning business and leave your materials with the business. By creating a personal connection, you can give your business a leg up over the faceless competition.

3
Create a marketing postcard campaign for residential customers. Offer something that will get them past the barriers to purchasing a cleaning service, like a discounted introductory price or a free cleaning. Include your contact information in large, bold print; if you have a website, include it so customers can research further before getting in touch.
-
4
Start a referral program to make the most of happy current customers. Hand out three or four referral cards to each client when you clean. Invite them to pass the cards out to family or business associates who might be interested in cleaning services. When a new client comes in with a card, give them and the referring client a discount on your services.

5
Plaster your branding over everything that people will see when you are out on jobs. Put signs on either side of your car so they will be visible when it is parked outside a house or a business. Have your staff wear branded t-shirts or uniforms when they are working. You can even have your buckets printed with your brand. On each item, include your business logo, name and website URL.
