Things You'll Need:
- felt
- embroidery thread
- stuffing
- needle

Step 1
Let's begin with the food patterns that are flat. This might include items such as cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pancakes and butter. Begin by cutting out 2 layers of felt in the shape of the food. Stitch the two layers together and add detail stitching. For Swiss cheese, for example, you would also cut out cheese holes in the two layers and then stitch together the holes and then the two sides of the felt. For tomatoes, leave a small opening when sewing together the two layers so that you can turn the pieces right side out before adding a flower-shaped detail of dark brown embroidery stitching in the tomato center. For the pancakes and butter, add a layer of batting inside for some added thickness.

Step 2
Felt cookies are also an easy food for beginners. Use a round object such as the bottom of a glass to cut out the felt cookie pieces. Trace the circle on the felt. As before, each cookie requires two identical circles. You can make the circles in different sizes to add variety to your plate of cookies. Use a simple straight stitch to hold the pieces of felt together. Leave a hole for stuffing and fill each cookie with a small amount. Finish stitching the cookie shut. If you'd like, cut out a piece of white or pink felt to resemble icing, and sew this onto the top of the cookie. You may also wish to use embroidery thread to create sprinkles.

Step 3
To make a felt egg, cut two identical free form white egg shapes and one yellow circle. Attach the yolk to one white egg shape and stuff it full. Finally, sew the second white piece of felt to the first one, on the bottom of the egg.
-
Step 4
For strawberries, cut out a red circle and then cut the circle in half. Each half will make two strawberries. Stitch the flat sides of each circle together, making a cone. Flip the strawberry right side out and long stitch around the top, creating a thread that can be pulled tight, like a draw string. Stuff the inside of the cone and pull the thread closed. Do a cross stitch on the top, pulling the felt together. Using the same thread, attach a green piece of felt that is cut to the shape of a strawberry top. Finally, use yellow embroidery thread to stitch seeds onto the sides of the strawberry.
-
Step 5
To make felt carrots, cut out a triangle piece of orange felt and stitch it up the side. Turn the cone right side out and stuff it. Do a long stitch around the top that can be pulled tight like a draw string. Now do a cross stitch to close the top, and stitch some green on top. Try rolling a small piece of green felt so that it looks like the stub of a stem, plugging this into the hole at the top, and stitching it tightly around the edges to secure. Finally, using orange embroidery thread, stitch some short decorative lines around the carrot, from top to bottom.

Step 6
Kiwi, lemon, apple, and orange slices can all be made easily by cutting out two circles and folding them in half. Stitch the circles together and turn them right side out. Add a bit of stuffing and stitch them closed. Stitch in some lines to create detail.
