Step 1
Explain to your toddler that Santa will be coming to visit soon and that you need to send him a letter to tell him what to bring. Many people do not realize how well toddler's can comprehend actions and results. Make it sound like the most exciting thing that has happened in months and your toddler will be more then ready to write a letter to Santa.
-
Step 2
Use bright colored construction paper, markers and stickers to actually write the letter to Santa. The more bold and interesting the colors and shapes of the objects that you are using in this project, the better your toddler will be able to focus on the task at hand. Write lined paper and a pen will not cut it with this age group.

Step 3
Ask your child what he would like Santa to bring him as you write the note to Santa. Point out each word you write and show your child where you have written what they want for Christmas. Besides being a great tradition, you can use the act of being able to write a letter to Santa to help your child learn to recognize more words and letters.

Step 4
Have your child draw on the card with the markers and place stickers on the letter to Santa to make it more personal. Tell your toddler that it is up to him to decorate it special for Santa.
