A different take on a traditional Bloody Mary, a Bloody Beer, is sometimes called the Poor Man's Bloody Mary, replacing the expensive vodka with less expensive beer.

Sometimes called Hair of the Dog for it's purported ability to alleviate a hangover, it's also a distinctive alternative to plain beer for a brunch or football game party.

Get creative and try different combinations of Worcestershire or Tabasco Sauce, Bloody Mary mix, Clamato or straight tomato juice till you find the combination that does it for you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pilsner-style beer glass
  • One bottle lite beer or lager
  • 2 ounces or to taste of Clamato, Tomato Juice or Bloody Mary mix
  • Worcestershire, Maggi Sauce or Tabasco Sauce, or soy sauce
  • Lime
  • Black pepper
  1. Step 1

Add 2 ounces or to taste of your preferred tomato juice, Clamato or Bloody Mary mix to a tall pilsner or pint beer glass.

  2. Step 2

Add the hot sauce next, just a few drops. You can use any combination of Tabasco, Worcestershire, Maggi Sauce or even soy sauce. Add a dash or two of black pepper.

  3. Step 3

Squeeze the juice of lime into the glass. Stir to mix all the ingredients. Add ice.

  4. Step 4

Add the beer slowly and garnish with the traditional Bloody Mary vegetable garnishes of a celery stalk, carrot stick or olives...whatever your favorite Bloody Mary would have.

    Enjoy responsibly.

Tips & Warnings
  • The lighter the beer, the more the flavors of the other ingredients come through.
