How to Use Baytril to Treat Pneumonia in Dogs
Man's best friend is often susceptible to the same diseases as its master. Canine treatments can vary though. Baytril is a chemotherapeutic agent used to help cure pneumonia. This medication is quickly absorbed through the digestive tract, and it fights against bacteria, helping to cure the pneumonia. It is normally prescribed in pill form and dosage amounts depend on the size and weight of your dog.

Place the pill in the back of the throat.

Hold mouth closed until the dog swallows.

Open mouth to be sure it was swallowed.

Tips & Warnings
If the dog refuses to swallow the pill, try wrapping it up in a food such as American cheese or bread. Encourage the dog to drink a little bit of water to be sure it is thoroughly ingested. Side effects on dogs includes nausea, vomiting, seizures, depression, and nervousness. Side effects are rare. Baytril comes in pill form, injection form and oil form. There are three different dosages for the pills, 22.7 milligrams, 68 milligrams, and 136 milligrams. Dosages are dependent on the size of the dog and the severity of the infection.
