Select an attachment for various cleaning jobs.

Push and twist your attachment onto the end of the wand (the cuff). To use the hose with an attachment, remove the wand by pressing the red button on the wand handle, pulling it away from the hose and pushing/twisting the attachment onto the hose cuff.

Press and release the ON/OFF button and begin vacuuming with the hose or wand and an attachment.
For the Mini Turbine Head, pull the plunger so that the brush can spin, position the slider underneath the head and slowly drag the turbine down surfaces. For the Low Reach Floor Tool, vacuum forward and back as you would the brushbar. For the Soft Dusting Brush, glide or wipe the dusting brush gently side-to-side along surfaces allowing the suction and soft bristles to dislodge dust and dirt. For the Mattress Tool, drag the tool slowly in a downward motion on surfaces. For the Flexi Crevice Tool, run the tool---with or without the brush head---in tight, hard-to-reach areas.

Tips & Warnings
You can use the attachments in the following ways. Mini Turbine Head: clean upholstery, stair carpeting, a vehicle or any narrow areas or thickly woven materials containing dirt or pet hair. Low Reach Floor Tool: clean carpets or floors and under low furniture. Soft Dusting Brush: clean keyboards, fans, blinds and friction sensitive surfaces such as computer or television screens. Mattress Tool: clean mattresses, box springs and upholstery. Flexi Crevice Tool: clean tight spaces, narrow crevices, baseboard and corners.
If you're vacuum automatically shuts, it may have overheated from a clog. Unplug it, allow it to cool and then check the wand, hoses and the attachment for dirt and debris.
Take care when using attachments and the hose---especially when cleaning on stairs---as your D17' Level 3 Root Cyclone™ technology's extreme suction can cause the unit and hose to pull away, resulting in damage to the unit or injury to you if the suction causes you or the vacuum to fall over.
Don't vacuum large amounts of fine dust or other fine materials with your D17 as fine particles can damage your vacuum.
Never rest your Dyson on stairs to clean them. Place the upright unit at the bottom of your stairs and stretch the hose and/or wand up the stair to clean them.
