Although it's the last thing you want to have to worry about when going trick or treating, there is a chance that you can pick up the flu from Halloween candy. Here are some steps to help you keep from picking up the virus.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Add a glove to your costume and as you ring the door bell use the hand with the glove, then let the person that answers the door, open it for you.

  2. Step 2

Instead of reaching in to the candy dish that so many others have reached into, let the owner of the candy toss it into your bag. As you approach the door or as it is being opened, hold your bag open out in front of you to increase the chances that the candy will be dropped into your bag.

  3. Step 3

Encourage your child to keep their hands away from their face till you are able to wash their hands. You can also bring along hand sanitizer and have your kids use it every few houses.

  4. Step 4

Throw away unwrapped candy and if you are really worried, throw away all the candy and substitute it with candy that you have bought from the store. If you buy several varieties your children will probably not even realized you replaced it.
