Have you ever tried to make a prime rib dinner at home?

Well here is a recipe that is incredibly easy and taste delicious. I use this prime rib recipe for my traditional Christmas Day dinner.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 lb. prime rib roast
  • 2 tbsp. onion salt
  • 2 tbsp. seasoned salt
  • 2 tbsp. garlic powder
  • Small mixing bowl
  • roasting pan (capable of a fitting a small wire rack inside)
  • wire rack
  • meat thermometer
  1. Step 1

Purchase your prime rib roast (bone-in rib-eye roast).

  2. Step 2

    Preheat oven at 500 degrees.

  3. Step 3

Mix onion salt, seasoned salt and garlic powder in small mixing bowl.

  4. Step 4

Rub the onion salt, seasoned salt and garlic powder mixture on both ends of the prime rib roast.

  5. Step 5

Place the roast in a roasting pan on top of the small rack that will lift the roast off the bottom of the pan. Place the bone side down and the fat side up. Place the meat thermometer in the middle of the roast.

  6. Step 6

Cook the roast in the oven for 5 to 6 minutes per pound and then shut off. (If you have a 3 pound prime rib roast, cooking time will be 15 to 18 minutes).

VERY IMPORTANT::::DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN DOOR FOR TWO HOURS.

  7. Step 7

After the two hours, take the roast out of the oven and check the temperature.

    Rare – 115 to 120 degrees
    Medium Rare – 125 – 130 degrees
    Medium – 135 to 140 degrees
    Medium Well – 145 to 150 degrees

The instructions in this recipe are for the prime rib to be Medium.

If the roast is not yet reached 140 degrees place it back in the oven at 375 degrees until it reached the 140 degrees.
