Cook these special breakfast waffles with candy coated chocolate added to the batter on those occasions that require a very special touch. Mouth watering and delicious describes these breakfast waffles. Add some strawberries and cream to make the chocolate come alive and you have a breakfast for a special person on a special day. Perhaps you’d like to cook these candy coated chocolate waffles on a day you just want to lay around and rest. They’d make a great brunch item. They’re so easy to do.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Waffle mix. The kind you add oil, water and eggs .
  • Oil
  • Eggs
  • Waffle iron
  • Water or milk
  • Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spray oil
  • Plate
  • Butter
  • Candy coated chocolate 1/4 cup for each waffle.
  1. Step 1

Turn on and preheat waffle iron. Waffle iron should preheat from five to ten minutes before pouring batter onto grill. Waffle will not cook even and will stick if iron is not preheated. When waffle iron is heated spray with liquid oil.

  2. Step 2

Read directions on waffle mix package for the amount of oil, water and the number of eggs to use for the number of waffles you want to cook. Put oil, water and eggs into bowl and whisk until ingredients are mixed. Pour in dry waffle mix and whisk until thoroughly mixed. Scrape edges and bottom so all the batter will be wet. It mixes better if you put the liquid in the bowl first.

  3. Step 3

Pour 1/4 cup candy coated chocolate into the batter for every waffle you're going to cook. Stir so the chocolate is mixed evenly into batter.
The kind of candy coated chocolate that melts in your mouth not in your hands is a good kind to use.

  4. Step 4

Spoon a thin coat of batter onto the heated waffle iron. Batter should cover the grill. Be careful not to put to much or it will run over and make a mess.

  5. Step 5

Cook for approximate two minutes. Most waffle irons have a light or timer that will tell you when the waffle is done.

  6. Step 6

When waffle is done , turn out onto a plate. Serve with hot syrup or strawberries and cream. Sprinkle with powder sugar.

Tips & Warnings
  • Spray waffle iron with oil after each waffle.
  • Keep any spilled batter cleaned up so it doesn’t dry on surface.
  • Serve immediately after cooking so waffle will stay crisp.
  • Try different toppings.
  • Iron is hot. Be careful taking out the waffle.
