Things You'll Need:
- An internet connection
- A bit of patience
- A list of affiliations and memberships
-
Step 1
Start your research early! You don't necessarily need to book your room early, but you'll be smart to start your research as soon as you know you'll need an airport hotel Heathrow room. Hotels often offer discounts when you book far in advance, so don't skip this step. You'll want to consult the hotel's website *and* popular travel sites to get information both on standard rates and special discounts.
-
Step 2
Call each of the hotels you're interested in staying at and ask about their best rates. Now that you've done your research online, you know the approximate price range, but often you can get a better price by calling. Ask outright! Say something like, "What can I do to get the best price?" or "Are there any specials available?" You'll almost always find they offer you a lower price on the phone (especially if you say, "The rate I found online was $x.")
-
Step 3
If you're traveling from outside the UK (say, from the US) watch the currency rates. Because hotel prices are several hundred dollars, a ten cent exchange rate drop can make a big difference in the final bill. So, do your research and find out what your local currency is doing compared to the pound. If you're not comfortable making predictions, ask a financial advisor who specializes in the topic. Booking your room when your local currency is strong against the pound will save you enough money to make this well worth your time. Of course, if you're traveling from within the UK, you'll skip this step.

Step 4
If you need multiple airport hotel rooms at Heathrow, you may want to book them over time depending on the hotel's vacancy rate (if the hotel has a lot of openings, this is a good way to spread out the amount you spend--much like you'd buy stocks over a period of time, you can buy multiple rooms over time as well). If you only need one room, make sure to book it when the time is right--don't want for it to be "better" timing.
