Healthy hair is not something everyone has. You may have a short hair cut or a long hair cut, either way you are looking to have shinier looking, healthy hair. Some of us are born with the gift of shiny healthy hair, where as others have to work to achieve the look of smooth shiny hair. Below are a list of steps that you can take to achieve the look of healthy hair.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Do not wash your hair every day. You can wash it every other day and still have healthy hair. Washing your hair every other day can cut out some of the blow drying. To much blow drying of hair may cause hair to dry out causing it to look less smooth, silky and shiny.

  2. Step 2

A product that may help to aid you in having the healthy hair in which you desire is serum. Serum works best with thicker hair. If you have thin and fine hair then you may want to try using a spray that is not heavy and will not weigh down the weight of your hair.

  3. Step 3

Always use a ph balance shampoo. Ph balanced shampoos help to keep the cuticles of the hair strands closed, which promotes healthy hair.

  4. Step 4

Another product which might aid in bringing life and shine back into your hair is hydrating shampoo and hydrating conditioner. You can find these products at your drug store and in most department stores. Beauty supplies will most likely be the place that you can find these hair products, but be cautioned they may cost a bit more.

  5. Step 5

Consult your hairdresser. Ask your hairdresser if she can recommend certain products that will promote healthy hair and help to prevent have the appearance of dry and damaged hair. Your hairdresser may even sell one or more of these products in the hair salon, which will save you an extra trip.

  6. Step 6

Blow dry your hair smooth. Use a comb, brush or your fingertips to do this. Pull your hair straight while aiming the blow dryer on your hair. Point the blow dryer down over the hair shaft or hair strands. If you blow dry your hair up it will look rougher, because this will open up the hair cuticles. Blow drying your hair shaft down helps to keep the cuticles closed and promote healthy hair. If possible do not blow dry your hair completely. If you have thick hair you can likely get away with only drying most of the hair on your head without anyone noticing. Before you shut off the blow dryer, switch it to cool mode and give your hair one final blow of cold air.

  7. Step 7

Purchase hair products that promote hydration. When you are out selecting products that you plan to use in your hair such as gels and mouse be sure to read the bottle or can. Select products that say words like, anti-frizz and hydrating. Do your homework, not all products that are cheap are the best products for your hair. This is not to suggest that you buy over-priced hair products. However, you may want to research and read reviews. The internet is a wealth of information, perhaps you could join sites where there are forums that people discuss healthy hair, hair problems and hair products.

  8. Step 8

Cut back on the amount of times that you dye your hair or pay someone else to dye your hair. Hair dyes and over processing your hair may cause you to have a dry and damaged hair look. If you look in the mirror and see that it is time to dye your hair again, wait one week and then get your hair dyed. This practice will eliminate the amount of damage and processing you get done to you hair each year and promote healthy hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get your hair cut as suggested by your hair dresser, to avoid having split ends, which may cause unhealthy looking hair.
