How to Install LCD Televisions
Once you get your new LCD television home, you are ready to install it. Many LCD televisions are installed by just mounting them to the wall. This method is a great way to save space in the room. Make sure you have the appropriate wall mounting kit for anchoring your television before you begin. It may also be a good idea to have a helper when you need to lift the television onto the wall.

1
Use a stud finder to locate the stud in your wall where you want to hang the television. Smaller televisions will need one stud; larger televisions will use two. Mark the spot with a pencil.
-
2
Decide what you want to do with the cords. Hide them behind a cabinet that sits beneath the television or purchase a cable management raceway or cord sheathe that attaches to the wall. Drill into the wall behind the television if you want to run the cords behind the drywall. Most mounting plates have a hole where you can drill into the drywall and run the cords through.

3
Hold the mounting plate to the wall, make sure it is level, and mark the screw holes with a pencil. Drill pilot holes. Secure the mounting plate to the wall with lag screws or bolts that came in the kit. Use a socket wrench and make sure they are tight.
-
4
Unbolt the stand from the bottom of the television if there is one.
-
5
Lay the television face down on something soft, like foam padding or a blanket. Screw the mounting brackets to the back of the television. Most televisions will have mounting holes on the back. Follow the kit's directions for placement and further attachment specifications. Insert the mounting rails into the brackets.

6
Lift the television up and screw the brackets to the wall mounting plate. This is where having more than one person will be necessary. Plug in the main power cord. Hook up your DVD player by connecting the RCA component video cord from the video input plugs on the back of the television to the video output plugs on the back of your DVD player. To connect a satellite receiver, connect the RCA cord from the video input plugs on the back of you DVD player (or the video input plugs on the back of your television if you do not have a DVD player) to the video output plugs on the back of your satellite receiver. Connect the coaxial cable to the satellite receiver.
