Survey your golf course or lawn and annotate the areas that are infested with Bahia grass intrusion with the Bermuda turf.

Determine which areas are suitable for direct removal of the grass, which should have mulch applied to kill the Bahia, and which should have herbicides sprayed to kill the Bahia grass. If the Bahia grass is near a border of an existing garden, treeline, or shrubbery, consider mulch or direct removal of the weed. In the fairways or greens on a golf course or large open area of a lawn, use an herbicide to keep your course in better shape.

Water the areas of Bahia grass that you intend to remove directly. Pull up the Bahia grass with your hands or garden trowel or shovel focusing on root removal.

Place a covering such as newspaper or plastic over the Bahia grass you intend to mulch over. Then, cover the same area with approximately 3 inches of mulch.

Pick a herbicide that is appropriate for your regional area that is tailored for Bahia grass removal.

Apply the Bahia grass herbicide using a herbicide sprayer. Ensure that you pick a herbicide that will not kill the Bermuda grass surrounding your infested areas on the golf course or open portions of your lawn.

Repeat herbicide spraying as your golf course conditions dictate. Many times, it can take two to three applications to remove significant infestations of Bahia grass.
