How to Make Electric Jar Candle Lamps
Creating a lamp from a canning jar is a simple afternoon project. Once finished, your lamp will be perfect for many gift-giving occasions. Since all the electrical parts are attached to the lid, the inside of the jar is just waiting to be filled with anything from potpourri to buttons. Perhaps your sister loves the beach; fill her jar with sand, shells and sea glass. Maybe your mother loves to sew; place spools of colored thread in her jar. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Check to ensure the lid from the lamp kit fits on the jar. Mason jars come in different sizes, and you want an exact fit so the lamp won't fall over.
-
2
Fill the jar with anything you wish--except liquid, because of the electrical parts. If what you fill the jar with is extremely light, place something heavy such as sand or a rock in the center of the jar. This will keep the jar lamp from falling over due to the weight of the electrical assembly.

3
Screw the lid with attached electrical assembly onto the jar.
-
4
If you would like a shade on your lamp, purchase a small 8-inch shade. Screw the bulb in to hold the shade on.
-
5
Check to make sure the jar lamp does not rock or tilt to the side. If this does happen, add more weight in the base.
-
6
Plug the lamp in, and turn it on to test.
