How to Seal a Cracked Garage Floor
The garage is one of the most versatile rooms in the house. It can be used as storage, a playroom or housing for your vehicle. Since the garage most likely gets a lot of traffic, builders generally build the floors out of concrete because of durability. Concrete can begin to get cracks in it over time which can cause the floor to become less stable. If you find cracks in your garage floor, you must seal them as soon as possible. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Widen the crack in the floor so it is approximately 1-inch wide. Get a chisel into the crack to make the interior of the crack wider than the outside edges.
-
2
Wet the area around and the interior of the crack with water from a hose for approximately one hour.
-
-
3
Clean up any debris or excess water from the area around the crack with the vacuum. Make sure you clear away any remaining dust, and clean the crack with a wire brush. The crack should be completely clean.
-
4
Mix dry cement mix with water in a bucket to form the concrete patch for the crack. At this stage the patch should look and feel like thick mud.
-
5
Apply the patch to the interior of the crack with the putty knife. When the crack is full, use the putty knife to make the patch smooth and even with the surrounding floor.
-
6
Let the patch dry for an hour. Cover the crack with a plastic tarp for five days. Throughly wet the area under the tarp once per day and clean up the excess water with the vacuum.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure the concrete is still moist when you begin patching. This will keep the surrounding concrete from drawing the water out of the patch.
Make sure you get as much of the patch into the crack as you can. The more of the patch you get into the crack, the better the bond between the existing concrete and the patch will be.
