How to Convert Music From iTunes to Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player and iTunes are both types of music programs commonly used on Windows-based computers. These programs will allow you to manage your music collection as well as sync songs and videos with portable devices like the Zune or iPod. Each program uses a specific file format that is not compatible with the other program. Windows Media Player uses WMA files, while iTunes uses MP3 files. To quickly convert your songs from one format to the other, all you need to do is burn a CD.

Things You'll Need

• Blank CD
• CD Writer

Instructions

1. Insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW into your CD-ROM drive.

2. Burn the songs you want to use in Windows Media Player to the blank CD using iTunes. Open iTunes and create a new playlist by clicking on the "File" menu and selecting the "New Playlist" option. Drag all the files you want to convert into the playlist and click on the "Burn" button to write these files to the CD.

3. Keep your newly burned CD in your computer's CD-ROM.

4. Open Windows Media Player.

5. Click "Yes" on the dialog box that appears asking you if you want to add the songs from the CD to your Windows Media Player Music Library. This will "rip" the songs from the CD, making perfect copies of them on your hard drive. Windows Media Player will automatically rip them in WMA format.
