Instructions

  1. Preparation

    • 1

      Assemble the cleaning tools:

Cylinder and wedge tools--pull the appropriately sized cleaning pocket over the frame of the tool and tie shut by pulling the elastic band. Tighten the band with the elastic band bead.
Detail scrubbing brush tool--push the tool onto the detail cleaning handle and tighten clockwise.
Garment steamer tools--attach the appropriate interchangeable piece (garment steamer "bonnet" or brush) to the garment steamer diffuser right before use.

    • 2

Remove the water tank cap by turning it counterclockwise.

    • 3

Use the filling flask to fill the water tank with distilled water. Replace the cap.

    Cleaning

    • 4

Select a cleaning tool. For example, use the garment brush for upholstery or the cylinder tool for narrow or hard-to-reach areas.

    • 5

Attach the direct steam bottle nozzle or the cleaning tool extension hose, depending on the cleaning job or attachment, by lining up the "un-lock" symbol on the unit's (steam bottle) connector with the arrow on the nozzle or hose and pushing the tool into the connector. To lock in place, turn the nozzle or hose clockwise until the arrow lines up with the "lock" symbol. Use the direct steam bottle nozzle alone or with the garment tool. Use the other tools with the extension hose.

    • 6

Plug in your Shark Portable Steamer and wait 30 to 45 seconds for the water to heat.

    • 7

Grasp the steam bottle handle. Pull and hold the trigger to generate steam from the steamer's nozzle or cleaning tool.

    • 8

Gently steam and rub or wipe down areas with your cleaning attachment. You can also use the direct steam nozzle with additional cleaning supplies such as a sponge, mop, cloth or paper towels.

    • 9

Turn off the unit when finished and allow it to cool before emptying the tank and storing or cleaning it.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you find water in a new Shark Steamer's water tank during assembly, don't worry--Shark steam tests all products before distribution and the testing process leaves a small amount of water in the tank.

  • Always use distilled water in your Shark Steamer as it extends the life of your Portable Steam Pocket and protects against damage from hard tap water.

  • Don't use water additives--cleaning solutions, detergents, chemicals, perfumes or oils--in your steamer as they can damage your appliance it or make it unsafe to use. In addition, use of additives voids any manufacturer or extended warranties.

  • Never use the Shark Steamer to clean unglazed ceramic or tile, painted, oiled, waxed or varnished surfaces, unsealed wood or antiques as it can damage steam sensitive surfaces.

  • Always empty the water tank after each use and clean it after approximately every 10 to 15 times filling it as mineral deposits or harmful bacteria can form in the tank if not regularly emptied and cleaned.
