How to Get Rid of Bruises With Arnica

While some people bruise more easily than others, pretty much everyone gets a bruise from time to time. These unsightly dark patches are the result of physical trauma which causes blood to become trapped below the skin. Bruises are actually easily healed by increasing blood flow to the affected area. Arnica is a natural herb that improves blood circulation and helps bruises dissipate within one to two days.

Things You'll Need

• Ice
• Towel
• Arnica cream
• Soap
• Lukewarm water

Instructions

1. Apply ice to the bruise to help reduce any pain. You can also take anti-inflammatory medication if you notice swelling around the bruised area.

2. Dry your skin with a towel and then rub a small amount of arnica cream on the bruise before going to bed at night. Arnica cream is available in most pharmacies and health stores.

3. Rinse the arnica cream away in the morning with soap and lukewarm water. Reapply arnica cream each night until the bruise has disappeared.

• Do not apply arnica cream to skin that is cut or scratched. It can cause severe reactions.
