Things You'll Need:
- Water
- Soft cloth or paper towel
- Cooktop cleaner
- Cooktop protectant
- Cooktop scraper
-
Step 1
Turn off all controls and make sure the cooktop is no hotter than warm to the touch.
-
Step 2
Wipe the glass top surface regularly with a wet cloth or sponge; then dry it thoroughly with a second, dry cloth. This will help prevent streaking.
-
Step 3
Clean light to moderate messes while the cooktop is still warm, wearing oven mitts to protect your hands and wrists if needed.
-
Step 4
Clean sugary spills such as jellies and syrup while the cooktop is still warm. Rub in cooktop cleaner with a dry paper towel or soft cloth until the white film is wiped away. Using the cleaner and the cooktop protectant regularly will help prevent scratches, pitting or other abrasions, and it will condition the cooktop.
-
Step 5
Use cooktop cleaner to clean up more heavily soiled areas from a cool cooktop, including dark streaks, specks and discoloration.
-
Step 6
Use a cooktop scraper to clean burned-on spills. Rub in the cleaner with a damp cloth or paper towel; hold the scraper flat against the cooktop surface and scrape. Repeat for stubborn spots and polish the entire cooktop with the protectant when finished.
