A leather recliner is a smart investment for any home. Comfortable, durable and easy to care for, these chairs can provide you with years of use. A leather chair makes for an instant focal point in any room, declaring itself with quiet elegance.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select the color for your leather recliner. Since this is a piece of furniture that will last for many years, it is best to select a color that will blend or compliment your existing decor. If you are looking to make a statement with your chair, a bright red or green is a great option. However, most people prefer to stick with either black or brown when selecting their leather chair.

  2. Step 2

Consider any risks from high traffic. If you have pets that get on the furniture or small children, a leather recliner will need to be protected. While leather is a durable material, it can be easily punctured or torn.

  3. Step 3

Select the type of reclining mechanism for your leather recliner. If you have a small space for your chair, pick a recliner that is made to allow the most extension without hitting the wall. Typically called wall huggers, these chairs can be placed in tight quarters quite easily. You will also have the option of selecting a reclining mechanism that operates with the push of a button, or the pull of a lever.

  4. Step 4

Find a recliner with a warranty. Since this is a piece of furniture that will be around for many years, it is best to purchase one that comes with at least a five year warranty. Ideally, the leather recliner should come with a lifetime warranty to ensure that your purchase will be protected.
