1
Decide which type of silk sheets to buy. Silk sheets come in two distinct varieties: Mulberry and Tussah. Mulberry silk is also known as "cultivated" and is much softer to the touch and more durable. Tussah silk is collected in the wild and is considered to be less durable and much less softer. However, it is more affordable.

Consider care options. Since Tussah silk is spun and not made of continuous fibers, it is less durable and will require more care. Look for silk sheets that are at least hand washable to cut down on the expense of dry cleaning.

Decide which Momme Weight to get. While thread count is important when purchasing silk sheets, silk is also classified by a system referred to as Momme Weight. The lower the number, the thinner the sheet. It is best to pick a Momme Weight ranging from 12 to 19 for the most durability.
