Instructions

    • 1

Create an invitation that looks like a flier advertising your theme park party. Purchase colored or theme designed paper from the craft store. Create a heading ("Come Celebrate Jamie's Birthday at Birthdayland!") Follow with text that indicates the time, place and date of the party. Add a note that advertises free admission with the flier. Print on the selected paper and send to guests.

    • 2

Set up a ticket booth at the party's entrance. Place a folding table at the entryway. Find a box that is large enough to serve as a ticket window when placed on the tabletop. Remove the bottom of the box. Open the top of the box. Paint and decorate the box. Use one of the bottom box pieces to make a sign that says "Tickets." Lay the box on its side so the top box pieces can be opened and closed like window shutters. Attach the tickets sign to the top of the window box. Secure box to the tabletop with masking tape. Have the birthday child sit at the ticket booth and collect the free admission fliers from guests as they arrive.

    • 3

Rent rides and bouncy houses from a party rental company or purchase a bouncy house from a toy store. Use your backyard swing set and play equipment as rides. Fill an inflatable pool with balls to create a ball pit.

    • 4

Set up an area with sprinklers and slide mats to create water rides. Supply beach towels for guests exiting these water rides.

    • 5

Inflate balloons and tie to dowels. Stake in the ground to create a lined path to each theme park attraction. Use poster paint on foam board to create signs that indicate how tall you must be to ride. Hang from nearby fences or tape to dowels and stake in the ground in front of attraction.

    • 6

Set up food vendor shacks built the same way as the ticket booth. Serve typical theme park food such as hot dogs, popcorn, soft pretzels, ice cream, cotton candy and lemonade.

    • 7

Purchase a roll of tickets from a party supply store and give several to each guest. Cut slits in the tops of shoe boxes and glue box top closed. Place one of these ticket boxes at each ride and vendor. Instruct guests to drop their tickets in the slots to purchase food or entry to an attraction.

    • 8

Set up a table with sprinkles, crushed cookies and candy pieces. Have kids decorate their own cupcakes.

    • 9

Use balloons and streamers to decorate around the party area.

    • 10

Have adults dress up as characters to greet and entertain guests.

    • 11

Purchase a balloon animal making kit from a party supplier. These kits come with balloons and instructions. Make them for the guests or give a lesson for them to make their own.

    • 12

Give out party favors. Buy cardboard popcorn boxes from the party goods store. Fill with items found at the dollar store such as mini stuffed animals, glow sticks, kazoos, kaleidoscopes and pinwheels. Add assorted candies, giant lollipops and candy apples.

Tips & Warnings
