Step 1
Go to the Department of Energy's website and go to the State Energy Program section. Click on your state to find the information that applies to you. There you will see, what appliances qualify for the rebates and which appliance stores and electric companies in your state will be offering rebates.
-
Step 2
Check with your electric company. Electric companies in some states will be granting a rebate, if you have updated your appliances to comply with the EPA's standards. Find out if your electric company will participate in the program. This will let you know if your will qualify for the state and electric company rebate.
-
Step 3
Check with your local appliance and chain stores. The department of Energy is now negotiating with appliance stores in your area to solicit their participation in the Cash for Appliance Program. Keep checking with the Department of Energy's website to see what companies they are negotiating with. Also call your favorite appliance store to find out if they will be participating in the program.
