How to Build Tool Storage
Pegboards are excellent storage centers that allow you to see your tools and get to them easily. Installing a pegboard is an easy task with basic carpentry skills. Within an afternoon you can have your pegboard up and your tools in their new home. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Pegboard
- 1-by-2 boards
- Stud finder
- Drill
- Saw
- Tape measure
- Drywall screws
- Screws

Measure the location you are placing the pegboard. Mark the framing.

Locate the studs behind the walls. Mark the locations of the studs so you know where to secure the pegboard.

Measure and cut the 1-by-2 boards to in the length of the frame you measured on the wall. Cut additional 1-by-2 strips to sit in the frame along the studs.

Screw the cut boards into the wall using drywall screws in the area where there is no stud. Use regular screws where attaching the stud supports.

Cut the pegboard according to the frame measurements.

Mount the pegboard using the drill and screws.

Place hooks into the pegboard to hang tools and baskets for accessories such as drill bits.

Tips & Warnings
Use a black marker to outline the location of the tools once you have them organized. This way you can easily return them to the correct spot after you have used them.
