How to Sew a Baby Travel Neck Pillow
Traveling in the car takes a toll on young travelers. Car seats restrict squirms--much to the dismay of little tikes. When the little wiggler is sound asleep, the car seat that protects also makes sleeping uncomfortable. Sewing a baby travel neck pillow for the little one can alleviate neck discomfort while sleeping in the car. The pillow is pliable enough to squeeze, mold and wedge into the various crevices around the sleeping tot and the rigid car seat. This baby travel neck pillow is so simple the seamstress may want to make several to stash in the trunk or diaper bag.

Things You'll Need
- 1 yard fabric in flannel, lightweight terrycloth, fleece
- Polyester fiberfill
- Straight pins
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Tape measure
- Chalk or paper for pattern

Fold the fabric together with the right sides touching. Measure and chalk onto fabric or create a pattern from paper, an 18-by-5 inch tube in the shape of a capital letter C.

Pin the fabric together and cut two pieces with scissors. Pin one 5-inch end of the C-tube and both 17 inch sides using a ½-inch seam allowance. Sew, using a straight stitch on the sewing machine, leaving one 5-inch end open. Remove pins.

Turn the tube inside out and stuff until firm but pliable. Hand sew the remaining open 5-inch end closed.

Place the baby travel neck pillow to one side over the baby's shoulder or in front of the baby's tilting chin to support the sleeping baby's head and neck.

Tips & Warnings
Two-sided pillows can be created by using two different fabrics, one for each side. This works well if you have children sharing the same pillow as a fabric for each child can be used. The travel pillow can be washed and dried in the dryer.
