How to Use a Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler as a Waffle Iron
The interchangeable grill plates of the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler do not include a plate for cooking waffles from raw batter. The ridged grilling plate and flat griddle plates are not intended to hold liquid waffle batter and press it into waffle shapes while cooking. Don't let this small hurdle stop you from making delicious waffles and waffle sandwiches on your Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler. Does this Spark an idea?

Take two frozen waffles from the freezer and carefully insert them in between the grill plates, once the Griddler is hot. Any size waffles will work, from the thick Belgium variety to the basic toaster sized or even a mini-waffle. Use one hand to lift and reset the lid while the other positions the waffles without touching the surface.

Tips & Warnings
Thaw your waffles before filling with any varieties of cheese, meats and even fried eggs for a delicious grilled waffle sandwich on your Griddler. The soggy waffle will crisp while the cheese melts creating a delicious treat for breakfast or anytime.
The grill and griddle plates of the GR-4 Griddler are both non-stick for easy food removal and cleanup. The use of cooking sprays, butter and oils is not necessary but will add flavor and help create crispier golden browned crusts.
For high heat grilling, choose oils or sprays that are capable of withstanding high temperatures without breaking down.
Grilling plates on the Griddler get very hot on all sides. Keep heat sensitive items a safe distance away from the unit and be careful handling foods or cleaning near your machine while it is on.
The GR-4 Griddler does not have an automatic shut-off or cook timer. Stay in your kitchen while you are using it so you smell food browning and stop the process before the food burns.
