How to Remove Urine Smell From Dirt or Soil With Baking Soda

Whether your dog has decided to make the backyard his favorite place to pee or the neighbor kids are using your flower bed as their personal outhouse, getting rid of urine odor from dirt is a fairly easy process.

Things You'll Need

• Baking soda
• Water
• Trowel

Instructions

1. Use a trowel to dig up the dirt in the affected area. This will help bring some of the urine to the surface of the soil.

2. Combine a cup of baking soda with half a cup of water to create a paste.

3. Use the trowel to apply the paste to the affected area of the dirt. Apply generously.

4. Allow the paste to sit for a few hours.

5. Water the dirt to wash away the baking-soda paste.

6. Smooth over the patch of dirt with the trowel.

Tips & Warnings

• Some urine-cleaning guides recommend lime to get rid of odor in dirt. However, this can alter the pH of your soil and kill any nearby plants.
