How to Use the Advair Dispenser

Asthma is a serious medical condition; numerous treatments are available to help prevent flare-ups and to reopen airways if constriction occurs. The Advair Diskus is a popular medicine used to help people with asthma both control and prevent asthma symptoms. Advair is taken daily and is not an aerosol inhaler; instead, it releases a controlled amount of powder. Taking Advair properly will help ensure you are getting the full benefits of the medicine and not putting yourself at risk.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the number of remaining doses on your Advair Diskus before each use to make sure you have enough.

    • 2

Use the thumb rest to push back the darker part of the Advair Diskus. This should show you the dispenser lever and the mouthpiece.

    • 3

Slide the dispenser lever back until you hear it click. Place your mouth over the mouthpiece. Breathe in quickly and deeply through your mouth.

    • 4

Take the diskus out of your mouth and hold your breath for as long as is comfortable. Begin breathing normally once you have held your breath.

    • 5

Close the Advair Diskus to keep the rest of the medicine intact.
