Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a fertilizer with equal parts nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. You can also use a fertilizer high in phosphorus if you cannot find a fertilizer with equal parts.

    • 2

Apply 2 1/2 to 3 lb. of fertilizer per 100 square feet of garden. Do this prior to the actual planting process as this will be the base of the tomato plant's nutrition.

    • 3

Water the tomato plants enough to give them about 1 inch of water per week. A great way to do this is to poke holes in the bottom of 1-gallon cans and remove the top. Plant two of these cans per plant into the soil with 1 inch of the can sticking out of the ground. Make sure not to get any dirt in the can. Fill them up with water and they will automatically water your tomato plants.
