Summoning the words to speak when talking to a girl for the first time is never as easy as teenage movie stars make it seem. In real life, you actually have to execute the conversation without completely embarrassing yourself or flaking out. Strength can be gained when you take the time to formulate an approach to talk with a girl for the first time.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Relay positive vibes through your body language. Girls will pick up on things like your confidence level and how well you are listening to them through your body language. Sending good signals is important when first talking with a girl. Facing her when she is talking, making frequent eye contact and keeping your arms or legs uncrossed are all good ways of sending engaging body language.

  2. Step 2

Speak clearly and concisely. Talking this way will ensure that you are understood and can be heard. Make sure you aren't yelling but that you do maintain an assertive tone during conversation. When you speak with confidence, this will show the girl that you have good self esteem.

  3. Step 3

Refrain from dominating the conversation. While you do want to have something interesting to say when you are talking with a girl, stay away from domination of dialogue. Nerves can also cause you to become a bit of a motor-mouth when taking to a girl for the first time. Pause often during conversation to allow her to inject some input. Prompt her to talk to you with open-ended questions that require more than a yes-or-no answer.

  4. Step 4

Make her laugh using any means necessary. Telling a funny joke or using a "gag" pickup line can help you break the ice with a girl. Getting a girl to laugh can subconsciously cause her to relate positive thoughts with you. This will make it easier to build a relationship if you desire to do so in the future.

Tips & Warnings
  • Without being creepy and lurking around a girl, approach her appropriately when she is alone so that you will have her full attention.
  • Don't get down on yourself if your first conversation doesn't go as planned. Remember that you can learn and build from your experience.
