How to Use an Electric Crepe Pan
There are two basic types of electric crepe pans on the market. One uses the dip method for creating crepes, the other uses a type of scrapper to spread the batter thinly on the cooking surface. Whichever model you have, an electric crepe pan simplifies the crepe-making process and is easier to use than a skillet. With a bit of practice, the electric crepe pan allows you to make perfect crepes every time. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
-
Dip Type
-
1
Prepare the crepe batter recipe at least one hour before cooking. This allows the batter to thicken naturally.
-
2
Wipe the surface of the crepe maker with a thin layer of cooking oil using paper towels.
-
-
3
Pour the batter into a large shallow dish such as a pie pan.
-
4
Plug the crepe maker into an electrical socket and turn on the machine. Pre-heat the machine for about three minutes or until the ready light comes on.
-
5
Grab the handle and flip the machine over. Dip the cooking surface lightly into the batter. Flip the machine back upright. The ready light will go off at this point.
-
6
Cook the crepe for approximately 45 seconds or until the ready light comes back on. Flip the crepe into a waiting plate. For this type of crepe cooker, the crepe is cooked on one side only.
Scrapper Type
-
7
Lightly oil the surface before pre-heating the crepe cooker.
-
8
Use the ladle that came with the cooker to pour batter onto the cooking surface.
-
9
Use the attached "scrapper" to spread the batter out evenly. Run the scrapper clockwise one full turn, then counterclockwise a full turn.
-
10
Cook the crepe for 15 seconds. Loosen the edges of the crepe with the spatula.
-
11
Slide the spatula under the crepe and flip the crepe. Cook the crepe on the second side for no more than 15 seconds. Use the spatula to remove the crepe to a holding platter.
