Instructions

    • 1

Clean the joints between the tiles to ensure they are free from any debris. Use a damp rag to clean the joints.

    • 2

Mix a batch of grout in a large bucket according to the packaging directions. Do not mix too much grout in advance or it may harden before you have a chance to apply it. Only mix enough grout for an area in which you can cover in a half hour or less.

    • 3

Scoop a liberal amount of grout from the bucket using a rubber grout float and place it on the surface area you are working on. Force the grout into the joints by holding the grout float at a 45-degree angle. Smooth the grout by working the grout float diagonally across the tile.

    • 4

Remove excess grout from the ceramic tile surface by holding the grout float at a steep angle and again working the float diagonally across the face of the tiles. Working diagonally is important to avoid removing the grout from the inside of the joints.

    • 5

Let the grout settle into the joints for about 10 minutes. Prepare a bucket of warm water to clean the tile.

    • 6

Dip a tile sponge into the bucket of water. Wring out the excess water.

    • 7

Wipe the surface at an angle to the joints. This will remove the grout residue from the tiles. Repeat the sponging process until the grout haze is removed from the tiles. Rinse the sponge frequently when cleaning the tiles.

    • 8

Allow the grout to cure for 24 to 48 hours, depending on the manufacturer's instructions. Do not walk on the area until it is cured.
