How to Remove Auto Window Trim Molding

Auto window trim molding must be removed first before the window can be removed. Windows on a vehicle are secured, in part, by the trim molding. This provides an aesthetic appeal as well as functional protection from water, dirt, and debris around the glass edge. Once you remove the molding, you must purchase new trim molding as it almost always gets destroyed or malformed in the removal process.

Instructions

1. Wedge the teeth on the removal tool underneath the trim molding.

2. Pry up on the trim to free it from the glass. The glass typically sits in a groove in the rubber trim molding, so you are trying to pry the molding out from around that groove.

3. Grab a the molding with your fingers or hand once you have worked a section of it loose. Pull up on it as you work the trim tool around the window until the trim molding has been completely removed.
