Instructions

    • 1

Examine the push mower to see if there is a drain plug for the oil. You will find that the majority of push lawn mowers do not have a drain plug, although some do.

    • 2

Unscrew the drain plug if the lawn mower has one. Place a funnel into the drain plug, and allow the oil to drain down the funnel into a bucket.

    • 3

Unscrew the oil cap if there is no drain plug. You may need to use a pair of pliers.

    • 4

Tip the lawn mower away from the side on which the air filter is located, and allow the oil to drain out into a container or bucket. This will reduce the likelihood of the air filter being soaked in oil.

    • 5

Let the oil drain from the push mower for about one minute or until you notice very little oil coming out. Generally about ¾ of the mower's oil will be drained during an oil change. The rest remains inside the mower's engine.

    • 6

Pour fresh oil slowly into the hole to refill the mower's engine oil. Use oil recommended by the manufacturer.
